

Learn About Dr. Potter!
After graduating from Russellville High School in Franklin County, Dr. Potter went on the the University of Alabama where he complete his undergraduate B.S. degree in Biology and then went on to Optometry School, to earn a Bachelor's in Science and Doctorate of Optometry, at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
In 1980, Dr. Potter became certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry, licensed in the state of Alabama, a member of the American Optometric Association, and a member of the B.S.K. Optometric Honorary Fraternity. He also started a private practice in Cullman, AL till 1984.
In 1982, Dr. Potter became a charter member of the American Optometric Association Contact Lens Section.
In 1984 through 1987, Dr. Potter was an assistant professor at the University of Missouri at St. Louis School of Optometry. He also became licensed and drug certified in the State of Missouri.
After teaching, from 1987 to 1991 Dr. Potter became a primary-care Optometrist at a Group Health Plan (an HMO or Multidisciplinary Group Practice).
Dr. Potter was then recruited, in 1991, by the late Dr. Allen Rooks to continue his private family practice of Optometry in Decatur, AL.
In 1996, Dr. Potter became TPA certified in Alabama (the first year it was available). He also became President of the North Alabama Optometric Zone.
In 2002, he became CRT certified.
Dr. Potter goes on Medical Mission Trips every year. He has been to the Dominican Republic and Brazil. He also supports the Lexi House, Lions Club, and many more organizations.
